European Tour 2013

Our Aim

Since being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, on the 1 April 2009, many things in our lives changed considerably.  Family, friends and colleagues have all contributed invaluably during the last 4 years and I know will continue to do so, going forward.

Amongst the changes we needed to make to our lives was to address our holiday of choice – having done European tours on our motorbikes in the past, we visited many countries, around 12 trips covering around 2,500 to 3,000 miles each.

To fill the void left by the bikes we bought a classic car, a 1974 Ford Escort Mark 1. Great fun and something to keep me occupied.  Much time, with help from my friends is spent on the car.

We have decided to embark on an adventure across Europe in the car in August 2013, attempting to take in 14 Countries in 15 days.  We estimate, with the help of ‘Google maps’, a trip of around about 3,800 miles.  I can assure everyone that the average daily mileage of 250 on minor roads will be a huge task

We have decided to try to raise money for 2 charities which are now a part of my life, British Parkinson’s UK and Chester MS Support Centre in Saltney, Chester.

The trick will be to achieve the above whilst still having a major adventure, a holiday!
